'Marvel's The Defenders' to Shoot in 2016: Here’s What You Need to Know...
The fifth series in the Marvel-Netflix deal has a start date… kind of… well, according to Daredevil at least. Charlie Cox, who plays the sight-challenged crime-fighter, has said that The Defenders will shoot in 2016.
In an interview with the Independent, Cox revealed, “What we do know is at the end of this year we’re going to be making The Defenders and, of course, Daredevil is very much a part of that foursome.”
The other three in that quartet are Jessica Jones, Luke Cage and Iron Fist, all of whom have their own interconnected Netflix series. So what do we need to know before The Defenders debuts sometime in 2017? Here’s the rundown…

Daredevil stars Cox as a blind lawyer-by-day, red-suited hero-by-night. His other senses are finer tuned than a normal human’s, but in every other aspect, he’s a mortal man. The series debuted its second season in March 2016 to rave reviews.

Jessica Jones, played by Krysten Ritter, is a former superhero with superhuman strength and limited flight, and is now a private investigator. Season One premiered in November 2015, and was renewed for a second in January 2016.
Luke Cage, the third in the quadrumvirate, gets his own series September 30 of this year, but has appeared in a number of Jessica Jones episodes as an ally, and eventually, in the comic world, her husband. He is played by Mike Colter, and has superhuman strength and unbreakable skin.

Lastly, Iron Fist is a master martial artist, who can concentrate his chi into his fist for a devastating strike. Finn Jones of Game of Thrones fame will play the titular character, who once posed as Daredevil during the Captain America Civil War comic series. There’s no release date announced, but it will have debut in 2017 before The Defenders.
