Mary Gauthier, more join epic writers' round concert for MTSU's new Songwriters Center
One dozen songwriting talents — spanning multiple genres and generations — will share the stage for a benefit concert at 3rd & Lindsley on May 19.
The group includes acclaimed folk singer Mary Gauthier, Pat Alger (who co-wrote "The Thunder Rolls" with Garth Brooks), Tony Arata (who penned Brooks' "The Dance"), Carlene Carter (who wrote and co-wrote her own hit recordings, including "Every Little Thing") and Roger Cook (with credits including "Long Cool Woman In a Black Dress," and the famed Coca-Cola jingle "I'd Like To Teach The World To Sing").
The concert is a benefit for the new Songwriting Center at Middle Tennessee State University — specifically, their efforts to name a room in the facility after songwriter and executive Ralph Murphy, who died in 2019.
Along with fellow performers Jim “Moose” Brown and Kathy Bailey and Michael Bonagura of Baillie & The Boys, the show will also feature a round of MTSU songwriting students: Natalie Madigan, Katy Dunlap, Kaleigh Wooten, and Saylor Brasseaux.
Tickets are $20, available at 3rdAndLindsley.com
