Mary J. Blige brought retro fashion to the grand opening of Ghirardelli’s Chocolate and Ice Cream Shop in New York on Tuesday. She was also invited to light the Empire State Building, where the new boutique is located.

Blige sported a polka dot Dolce & Gabbana halter top and high-waisted pleated pants, accessorizing with red peep-toe heels, nodding to 1950s trends. She also added on a layered diamond necklace and stud earrings, completing her look with layered bracelets and rings.

Hairdresser Tym Wallace styled the singer’s braided auburn tresses in an updo, while makeup artist Merrell Hollis gave her a smoky eye and lip gloss.

“Were standing at the foot of the Empire State Building. It’s the most iconic building in New York City…Ghirardelli, an incredible company, and Mary J. Blige together. That is just the perfect combination,” said Ghirardelli’s chief executive officer Joel Burrows.

Mauricia Henry, who styled Blige at the “Power Book II: Ghost” premiere in June, has worked with the R&B legend since 2021. On that red carpet, Blige sported an asymmetric black and white Balmain gown from the label’s pre-fall 2024 collection. Her accessories included chunky gold bangles, a collar necklace and hoop earrings, as well as Gianvito Rossi sandals.

Blige attended the premiere of “Power Book II: Ghost’s” fourth and final season premiere alongside several other members of the show’s cast, including 50 Cent, Woody McClain and Michael Rainey Jr. The crime drama series follows Rainey’s Tariq St Patrick as he’s forced to balance his drug operation with his school grades, love life and family after the death of his father.
