The first mask unleashed was Wasp and his Masked Ambassador is Season 10 champ Ne-Yo (Cow). He said, “I think it’s about time for my boy The Wasp to enter this game. I’ve known him since he was fresh on the scene and he gained huge success by taking my words of wisdom. I think he’s got what it takes to snag the Golden Mask trophy just like I did in Season 10.” The Wasp added, “I grew up in a tough neighborhood. There was no reason I should have made it out, but I learned to dig deep and fight. My career turned into a hive of activity, we’re talking the biggest screens and stages in the world.”

Wasp performed “Rock Your Body” by Justin Timberlake and quickly proved he’s a voice to contend with. He can dance too! For an additional clue we saw a pair of basketball sneakers, prompting Wasp to say, “Well Nick, fresh kicks helps me to stay on my game.” The panelists guessed Wasp was Taye Diggs (Rita), Bruno Mars (Jenny), or Jason Derulo (Robin).
The second contestant was Chess Piece. Her Masked Ambassador is Nikki Glaser (Season 8 Snowstorm), who stated, “I know when you think of Nikki Glaser you think of fashion icon, and that’s why I’m here, to introduce the most fashion-forward friend that I know.” Chess Piece added, “Look, I love a fashion moment because I never thought I’d be here. There were times I felt like a pawn with no protection. People doubted me my whole life, but I had to believe in myself and make bold moves across the board to secure my crown and that leading role that changed my game.” Nikki closed out her intro by saying, “We know you are a total game-changer, and as much as I love to gossip, your secret is safe with me.”
Chess Piece performed “Believe” by Cher and quickly perplexed the panel with her unique tone and delivery. She told Nick that people have always told her that she’s “tone deaf” and can’t sing, but she loves singing so she keeps doing it! For an additional clue we see a pair of tennis shoes, which prompted Chess Piece to say, “In the first round of the match it’s love serving love.” The panel guessed Chess Piece was Serena Williams (Jenny), Regina King (Ken), or Ashley Graham (Rita).
The third contender was the lovely Bluebell, whose Masked Ambassador Kelly Osbourne (Season 2 Ladybug), had this to say: “I’m here to dish some top secret info about my fabulous friend, Bluebell, who certainly knows a thing or two about tabloid fodder. I should know, we even made headlines together. She had overnight worldwide success, but with major fame comes major gossip.” Bluebell added, “As my career was blossoming, the rumor mill grew wild about my alleged relationships with rockstars, billionaires, and even royals. The truth is, my true love never bloomed until recently. Now that I’ve found it, I’ve never been happier. We belong together. And now I’m here because, well, I’m kind of having a moment.” Kelly closed out the intro package stating, “So true, along with cargo pants and crop tops. Good luck Bluebell!”
Bluebell performed “We Belong” by Pat Benatar. The panelists immediately notice, “She can really sing!” Following her impressive performance the men in black revealed her rollerblades, prompting Bluebell to say, “I try to roll with the situation, but I always rock it out.” The panelists guessed Bluebell was Taylor Momsen (Ken), Ellie Goulding (Rita), or Leighton Meester (Robin).
Next to go was Dust Bunny, whose Masked Ambassador was Dick Van Dyke (Season 9 Gnome). The TV legend said, “I’m 98 years old, so I know a little bit about collecting dust. Here’s my pal, the Dust Bunny!” The masked mystery singer added, “I’m Dust Bunny! I’m here to audition for ‘The Masked Singer’ because singing has always been a secret ambition of mine. When I was a rookie who first got into the biz, I had a super important job — making coffee. Until I was asked to stand in for a rehearsal to test the lighting, and wouldn’t you know it? Apparently, I had a face for TV. Since then I’ve collected quite a list of co-stars: Anne Hathaway, David Bowie, even Marlon Brando – though no one’s ever seen that footage!” Van Dyke added, “Well, he forgot the most important one — me! Good luck Dust Bunny!”
Dust Bunny performed “Sweet Caroline” by Neil Diamond. It was obvious to everyone he’s not a professional singer, but boy could he entertain the audience. When we saw his purple ice skates, Dust Bunny revealed, “Well, my attitude in this competition is to burn through it in a blaze of glory.” The panelists guessed Dust Bunny was Will Ferrell (Ken), John C. Reilly (Jenny), or Jay Leno (Rita).
The last performer of the night was Goo, whose Masked Ambassador Keenan Allen (Season 9 Gargoyle) shared, “On Season as the Gargoyle, everyone got to see my softer, sensitive side, even though they know me as tough. Knowing Goo, I can say he’s the same.” Goo added, “Growing up, I wanted to tackle everything in my way. But inside, I was really sensitive, oozing with emotions. Once my older brother started playing guitar, I found my escape. After tough days at school, I’d sit in my room crying, singing through the pains of high school drama. I became a total music nerd, starting acapella groups, music lab, and even winning awards.”
Goo sang “Lose Control” by Teddy Swims and although the clues hinted at him being an athlete, he definitely sounds like a professional singer. He’s a got big, soulful voice. When we saw Goo’s golden music cleats he said, “For me, you may want to focus on the ‘soul’ of the shoes.” The panelists guessed Goo was Jon Batiste (Ken), Shaboozey (Robin), or Khalid (Rita).
Following the studio audience vote, Dust Bunny was booted from the competition. Before he unmasked the panelists revealed their final guesses: Will Ferrell (Ken), John C. Reilly (Jenny), Jay Leno (Rita), and Chevy Chase (Robin). When Dust Bunny finally pulled off his big ol’ mask he revealed himself as actor, comedian and late night fixture Andy Richter!
