‘Masters of the Universe’ Taps Alison Brie To Play Villain Evil-Lyn
Alison Brie (Apples Never Fall) has landed the role of villain Evil-Lyn in the live-action Masters of the Universe film from Amazon MGM Studios and Mattel Films, Deadline has learned.
Brie joins an ensemble led by Nicholas Galitzine as Prince Adam aka He-Man. As previously reported, Camila Mendes is also aboard to play Teela, a warrior who as Captain of Eternia’s Royal Guard, is responsible for protecting the royal family, especially Prince Adam.

Part of the Masters of the Universe franchise from the early days, Evil-Lyn was introduced by way of both Mattel’s toy line and the animated series He-Man and the Masters of the Universe in 1983. A sorceress with formidable magical abilities, she’s one of the most trusted and powerful allies of He-Man’s nemesis, Skeletor.
Slated for an exclusive release in theaters worldwide on June 5, 2026, the new Masters of the Universe film’s plot is being kept under wraps. Laika’s Travis Knight is directing the pic from a screenplay by Chris Butler. David Callaham and Aaron and Adam Nee worked on the initial draft. Previously in development at Sony and Netflix, the film is being produced by Escape Artists and Mattel Films.
Most recently seen starring in Peacock’s crime mystery Apples Never Fall, based on the novel by Liane Moriarty, Brie is best known for her starring roles on Netflix’s women’s wrestling comedy GLOW and NBC’s cult comedy Community. In film, her recent credits include Somebody I Used to Know, Spin Me Round, Happiest Season, The Rental and Horse Girl, to name just a few. Up next, she’ll be seen starring in the horror pic Together opposite husband Dave Franco, as well as the long-teased Community: The Movie.
