What Do We Know About the White Collar Revival?

The good news is that a White Collar revival is not just an idea. There is a script. Actor Matt Bomer spoke about it during a recent interview with PEOPLE, telling the magazine: “It’s fantastic, and it’s completely in line and in keeping with the show that we were able to do six seasons of.”

Jeff Eastin, White Collar‘s co-creator, wrote the revival script. “It really just feels like he was able to pick up the right where we left off,” Bomer also told PEOPLE.

In White Collar, Bomer played Neal Caffrey, a con artist turned FBI consultant. The show aired on USA Network for six seasons, with a cast that included Tim DeKay, Willie Garson, and Tiffani Thiessen. It ended after six seasons in a pretty open-ended way, with Caffrey faking his death and later shown living free in Paris – without the constraints of having to work for the FBI or go back to jail.

“It’s a really intelligent, fun, organic way to bring all the characters back together to pay tribute to Willie Garson, Diahann Carroll, and folks we’ve lost since the show ended, which was really important to me,” Bomer also told PEOPLE. “It’s something that if you enjoyed the show, you really will have a good time watching it.”

The White Collar revival hasn’t been greenlit yet, telling PEOPLE that “Many of those decisions are above my pay grade and out of my control,” Bomer sounded hopeful about the possibility, particularly because it would mean a reunion with his castmates, who he still considers close friends.

“So much of that experience was just being with that group of people,” Bomer, who still counts DeKay as a close friend, said. “We worked long hours on that show, and it never felt like work. It was just such a fun, free, open environment and a great place to just create and explore the characters.”

Bomer has recently been making waves for his portrayal of Hawkins “Hawk” Fuller in Fellow Travelers. This role earned him a 2024 Emmy nomination for Outstanding Lead Actor in a Limited or Anthology Series or Movie. Bomer got his television start in 2000 in All My Children, where he played Ian Kipling. He also appeared on Guiding Light, where he played Ben Reade.
