Matt LeBlanc Given First Test Drive of New Ford GT on ‘Top Gear’
Matt LeBlanc is one lucky guy. The Top Gear host is not only wealthy and successful, he also got to be the first person to test-drive and review the brand-new 2017 Ford GT supercar.
Ford is making only 1,000 GTs — all of which have been reserved at a reported price of about $400,000. And unlike most supercars that have large displacement engines consisting of eight, 10, or 12 cylinders, this new car is simply a V6. Yet thanks to the Ford 3.5-liter EcoBoost engine, the car puts out 647 horsepower, which pushes it from 0 to 60mph in three seconds flat.
LeBlanc drove the GT down the scenic Pacific Coast Highway and then squealed the tires around the famed Mazda Raceway at Laguna Seca, Calif. He said that despite the smaller engine, the car is perfect.
Top Gear airs Sundays at 8 p.m. on BBC America.
