Matthew McConaughey jokes about Brad Pitt and Jennifer Aniston's 'palpable' sexual tension during 'Fast Times' live table read
Matthew McConaughey didn’t seem too keen on talking about the “sexual tension” between exes Brad Pitt and Jennifer Aniston during their Fast Times at Ridgemont High table read, but — alright, alright, alright — twist his arm.
Promoting his memoir, Greenlights, on Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen, a viewer asked the Dallas Buyers Club actor about September’s virtual table read of the 1982 flick that brought the former married couple back together onscreen for the first time since their 2005 divorce.
“Could I feel the heat through the screen of Brad?” McConaughey asked, seemingly uncertain of what to say. He joked, “So palpable. Yeah, yeah. it was so palpable.”
He continued, "No, it was...I noticed that after that that's what a lot of the topics were,” in the entertainment news world. “About that, or about them," referring to to the exes.
And added, “No, I actually didn't notice anything through the screen, but that made for a good topic the next day."
In the reading, Aniston and Pitt shared a steamy scene when the script for the fundraiser event called for his character, Brad Hamilton, to have a sexual fantasy about hers, Linda Barrett. The reading caused the rest of the star-studded cast — Shia LaBeouf as Spicoli, Julia Roberts Ray Liotta, John Legend, Henry Golding, Jimmy Kimmel, Morgan Freeman, Sean Penn and organizer — to laugh.
The reunion was the talk of social media for days due to their long history — most of which has played out in the tabloids since they ended their marriage in divorce 15 years ago. (That was due to the fact that he took up with his Mr. & Mrs. Smith co-star, Angelina Jolie, and jumped into the role of “Brad Dad” with her children. The parents of six were then together — and married until 2016 — until Jolie filed for divorce. They divorce, which is ongoing, has been bitter.)
It’s been a year of reunions for Pitt and Aniston, who also had a moment backstage at January’s Screen Actors Guild Awards, when it was also apparent that fans are still not over the split.
