On The Late Show With Stephen Colbert, Max Greenfield stopped by and showed off his awesome impression of Robert Shapiro as portrayed by John Travolta. Max confessed that while working on the set of New Girl he would casually slip into his Robert Shapiro character during takes and see if anyone would notice.

Of course the impression was noticed by his director, and he was told a few times to “Please get into character.” All jokes aside, Max was quick to praise Travolta’s performance in The People v. O.J. Simpson: American Crime Story. Colbert also agreed that the show was fantastic and that Travolta’s performance was nothing but wonderful each episode.

The charming comedian blamed his silly on-set behavior on lack of sleep, caused by his newborn baby. Max then indulged the audience with his spot-on impression. As laughter filled the room, before our eyes, the New Girl star suddenly became the new Travolta.
