Meagan Good says 'every friend advised' her about dating Jonathan Majors amid criminal trial
Jonathan Majors is Meagan Good's man and she's sticking beside him.
Good, who is promoting her latest movie "Divorce in the Black," shared in an interview with the "Today" show Tuesday that "every friend advised" her against dating Majors amid the "Creed III" actor's trial after host Hoda Kotb asked: "Did any friends advise you, he's in the middle of legal troubles, why don't you wait a beat? Why don't you wait to see how everything shakes out?"
Majors, 34, was arrested in New York in March 2023 and accused of assaulting his girlfriend Grace Jabbari in the back of a car. In December, he was convicted of misdemeanor assault and harassment, but acquitted of intentional assault and aggravated harassment. Majors had pleaded not guilty.
Good elaborated, telling Kotb and Jenna Bush: "At the end of the day, one thing I know is that I can always look myself in the mirror when I trust my spirit, when I trust God, when I ask God, when I move to the beat of my own drum — I can always look and say, 'I'm proud of that.' Whatever happens, I have peace in my heart and I have harmony in my heart."
The actor was sentenced to a 52-week domestic violence intervention program, but avoided jail time.
He and Good, 42, sparked dating rumors in May 2023 and the following month she began attending his trial at Manhattan Criminal Court.
The "Harlem" star added that while she takes "everyone's opinion and advice into account," she doesn't base her decisions on "what someone else is saying."
"I'm the one who has to live my life. I'm the one who has to get to heaven one day, prayerfully, and give God an account of what I did," she continued. "So, I want to be responsible for the choices that I make. I also want to live the life that I want to live."

Meagan Good says Jonathan Majors discouraged her from dating him
Good opened up about her courtship with Majors in an interview with People magazine published Wednesday.
Despite their "instant chemistry," Good said Majors had reservations about their burgeoning relationship after the pair was spotted during an outing.
"He actually tried to encourage me not to be with him. He wanted to protect me," Good said. "I was like, ‘My love, first of all, you’re dealing with a Black Leo. And also, I grew up in this industry.
"The things that I’ve been through gave me the bandwidth to love other people, regardless. So, when we got together it was like, this is going to be a lot, but you got the right one."
While the actress said it's been "tough to watch" Majors navigate his legal troubles, Good remained enthusiastic about her relationship with the former Marvel star.
"We come outside when we need to, but we’ve really existed inside this bubble and it’s been wonderful," Good said. "It’s crazy because even with everything that’s been going on, this is the happiest I’ve been in a long time."
