Meek Mill Says Michael Rubin Should Not Comment On Black Community “Out Loud”
Meek Mill thinks Michael Rubin’s commentary on hatred in the Black community should have been more reserved. Taking to social media on Thursday (Aug. 15), the Philadelphia rapper explained his thoughts that Rubin’s opinion was more vocal than necessary.
“Rubin shouldn’t be saying that type of stuff out loud,” wrote the 37-year-old on X. “a black man suppose to but nobody saying it…its like we only collab on songs women and parties…he be hearing my friends getting murdered like why meek, I can’t explain it to him in a sensible way.”
Meek Mill’s response comes after Rubin guested on The Breakfast Club earlier this week with choice words about “Black hate.”
“That is the one thing I’ve learned about, you know, look, I’m just being blunt because it’s me,” he shared with hosts Charlamagne Tha God and DJ Envy. “It’s the one thing I’ve learned about Black culture that I don’t like is that Black hate on hate.”
Rubin continued, “Why does somebody want to bring somebody else down? Let’s try to build everybody up. I’d be more excited to see one of my friends do something that’s 99% less meaningful to me but it would be meaningful to them because I want them to do great.”
Meek Mill is not the only rapper to share his opinion on the tone-deaf statement. ScHoolboy Q also used X to express disdain for Rubin’s interview.
“YOU KNOW WAT I DONT LIKE ABOUT U NI**ERS? I HATE WHEN U NI**ERS BE ACTING LIKE N***ERS…basically,” wrote the Los Angeles rapper in a now-deleted post.
Rubin has since apologized for his statements explaining, “I got a phone call from one of the people I have the most respect for in the world – they told me while they appreciate my intention, it’s not my place to speak on black culture. I get it and really appreciate the input!”
He continued, “My bad , Much love and appreciate the feedback.”
