Chicago Med Season 10 is here, and the ED at Gaffney Medical Center will look different in the new season. Sarah Ramos’ has joined the show as Dr. Caitlin Lennox and Dominic Rains’ Crockett Marcel has exited, which is sure to be a change. But that’s not all, as another new face is coming to Chicago Med in Darren Barnet’s Doctor Frost. But who is Doctor Frost and what secrets is he harboring?

Who is Dr. Frost on Chicago Med?

What we know of Dr. John Frost so far comes from Deadline, who reported the character is a “pediatric resident who is harboring a secret.” The fact that we’re getting two new doctors to the ED in such a short period would be suspect if it weren’t for the fact that Dr. Goodwin already warned in the trailer for the season that they need to “rethink how this ED operates” in the wake of a mass casualty event. Maybe more doctors is exactly what Gaffney Medical Center needs.

Barnet also posted a BTS video to his Instagram of himself in character. In it, he was donning the signature maroon-colored scrubs favored by doctors at the ED and talking about his favorite things about his character.

“If I was a doctor, I don’t think I’d ever stop playing with this, (as he holds up the stethoscope) or this (as he holds up a flashlight pen) or this (as he plays with his drawstring badge),” Barnet jokes as he shows off his look. “That’s probably why I’d never be a doctor. I’d also never make it through med school,” he admits as the video trails off before he can go into the many reasons why he wouldn’t be a doctor.

There’s little information about his character, other than that, unlike Dr. Lennox, he isn’t an attending yet, but a resident. That means he will fall much lower on the authority totem pole, and we will likely see him in more of a mentee role. Pediatrics also means he might be working with Dr. Asher, who is an Obstetrician-Gynecologist. He feels a little young to be an issue between Asher and Ripley, but this is Chicago Med so it’s impossible to rule anything out.

Hopefully, though, whatever secret he’s harboring and whatever storyline the show brings for him isn’t romantic. Or, if it is, it involves a new character the show can introduce after we’ve already gotten to know and love Frost. Chicago Med needs some stability and if he and Dr. Lennox both work out as characters that would go a long way towards the show sticking around for seasons to come.

Chicago Med airs Wednesdays at 8 p.m. on NBC. It is available to stream on Peacock.
