Meet 'X-Men: Apocalypse' Breakout Alexandra Shipp
With all due respect to her debut movie — 2009’s Alvin and the Chipmunks: The Squeakquel — Alexandra Shipp’s second squeakquel sequel is a bigger deal.
In this week’s highly anticipated X-Men: Apocalypse, Shipp takes over the mantle of the weather-manipulating Storm — a role originated by Halle Berry, who most recently played the character in 2014’s X-Men: Days of Future Past. Shipp, a 24-year-old Phoenix native, was intent on making the new version of Storm all her own, beginning with wicked new hairstyle, which the actress inaugurated with a good old-fashioned head-shaving party for her and her closest friends. And the new Storm isn’t so heroic: while Berry’s version was loyal to Professor X’s good side of the mutant force fields, Shipp’s becomes one of the four Horsemen of the ultra-evil Apocalypse (Oscar Isaac).
In our new series “15 Questions” (watch above), we got to know Shipp, who was last seen in the 2015 summer hit Straight Outta Compton. Watch as she professes her love for Fight Club, Montreal, the language of Sanskrit, and more.
X-Men: Apocalypse is now in theaters.
