Meagan Good And Taye Diggs Unite At Lifetime’s ‘Terry McMillan Presents: Forever’ Red Carpet Premiere
Meagan Good and Taye Diggs will come together on the silver screen for a story about a persevering romance in Terry McMillan Presents: Forever. The film debuts on the Lifetime network on Saturday (Aug. 24), at 8 p.m. ET. Forever also stars Jeremy Urann, Madison Griggs, Leesie Pinto, Terrell Tilford, Chloe Elise Ellis, Elimu Nelson, Chris Angelis, and more.
Penned by Bart Baker, Terry McMillan Presents: Forever tells the story of Johnnie (Diggs) after he returns home after a tour of military service and is surprisingly met with divorce papers. He then shockingly finds himself falling for a local policewoman, Carlie (Good), who pulled him over for speeding. Determined to win her heart, he might first win over her three daughters, and to do that, Johnnie must rid himself of old fears and former regrets to find love and gain family.
“For me, it’s about the importance of not being afraid to take chances on life,” Diggs explained to VIBE at the red carpet premiere at Los Angeles’ DGA Theater Complex on Tuesday night (Aug. 20). He also detailed how he relates to his character. “I’ve been married, I’ve been divorced, I have a child,” he said. “I’m single, so I’m out there dating around. So, this story rang out very true and reminded me of all the positive things that are out there that have come through relationships.”
“I cried when I finished reading it [the script],” Good said. “I was like, this is so beautiful. It’s just such a beautiful love story and it’s a challenging love story. I’m not going to give anything away, but it’s pretty special and it hit me directly in the heart. I just sat there for a moment and I was like, wow. So that made me want to do it.
“I think in terms of similarities between myself and Carlie, just being tough, just persevering, doing what you got to do and just saying, ‘You know what? It’s going to be okay. And not only is it going to be okay, but I’m going to put my best foot forward and it’s going to be amazing.‘ Then hopefully a similarity of being a parent sometime soon.”
Good and Diggs executive produced the television movie alongside its director Charles Murray. Watch the official trailer for Terry McMillan Presents: Forever and take a look at the red carpet premiere below.
