Megan Thee Stallion is telling her story — her album Megan led to her first solo Hot 100 #1 single with “Hiss”, and she’s taking fans behind the scenes in the new film Megan Thee Stallion: In Her Words. Produced by Amazon MGM Studios, the feature-length documentary is now available to stream on Prime Video.

In the documentary, Megan Thee Stallion (born Megan Pete) gets candid on the highs and lows of her personal and professional career, including the loss of her mother, who Megan cites as an inspiration for her creativity.

The film also delves into her much-publicized shooting by Tory Lanez in 2020. Anonymous online commentators and famous rappers alike attempted to smear Megan’s reputation, but the long legal and public battle eventually vindicated Megan when Tory Lanez was convicted and sentenced to 10 years in prison on three felony counts.

In a 2022 interview with Rolling Stone, Megan argued, “In some kind of way I became the villain,” pointing out the racist and misogynistic undertones, saying “I wonder if it’s because of the way I look. Is it because I’m not light enough? Is it that I’m not white enough? Am I not the shape? The height? Because I’m not petite? Do I not seem like I’m worth being treated like a woman?”

The film was directed by Emmy-winner Nneka Onuorah, and it promises “unprecedented access to the multi-faceted woman behind the persona.” The synopsis continues, “Follow the Houston native’s journey on the road to stardom as she tenaciously navigates fame, grief, pressure and success. The documentary unpacks Megan’s most vulnerable moments in a powerful way that allows fans to meet the real Megan Pete.”

Megan Thee Stallion wrapped up her Hot Girl Summer Tour in September, concluding her first solo headlining tour. If you missed the dates or couldn’t make it to the merch table, Megan teamed up with Amazon Music on Hot Girl Summer Tour merch. It may be fall, but Hot Girl Summer is a state of mind.
