Megan Thee Stallion to Host 2024 MTV Video Music Awards
Megan Thee Stallion, a five-time nominee at this year’s MTV Video Music Awards, will also serve as host of the event, taking place September 11 at New York’s UBS Arena. The gig will mark the rapper’s first time hosting an awards show.
The hosting duties come five years after Megan Thee Stallion won her first Moon Person back in 2019 when her single “Hot Girl Summer” was awarded Best Power Anthem. Megan is up for five awards at this year’s VMAs, including Best Collaboration for “Wanna Be” with GloRilla and Best Hip-Hop for “BOA.”

This year’s performers so far include Chappell Roan, Sabrina Carpenter, Halsey, Lenny Kravitz, Rauw Alejandro, Camila Cabello, Benson Boone, GloRilla, and Lisa. Katy Perry will receive the 2024 Vanguard award as well as perform a career-spanning medley.
Taylor Swift led the pack with 10 VMA nods, almost all of which were for the visual for her Tortured Poets Department single with Post Malone, “Fortnight.” The single is up for the night’s big prize, Video of the Year, offering Swift the chance to notch a record-extending fifth victory in that category. She’s also up for Artist of the Year, while the “Fortnight” visual picked up additional nods for Song of the Year, Best Collaboration, and a slew of technical categories; Malone also has nine nominations, thanks in large part to “Fortnight.”
The 2024 VMAs were originally scheduled for September 10, but MTV pushed the ceremony one day in order to avoid a programming conflict with the presidential debate scheduled for that day.
