Meghan Markle roasted for sending Kris Jenner her ‘garbage’ jam: ‘Could not sink any lower’
Lucky No. 13?
Kris Jenner is just the latest famous face to receive a jar of Meghan Markle’s jam from her new lifestyle brand, American Riviera Orchard.
The “Kardashians” star shared a photo of her gift via social media on Wednesday, revealing that she was the 13th person out of 50 to receive it.
“Thank you,” Jenner, 68, simply wrote, tagging the new company. She also showed off a handwritten note with her name, which was written by the Duchess of Sussex.
Markle, 42, previously worked as a calligrapher from 2004-2005, even writing the invitations for Robin Thicke and Paula Patton’s wedding in 2005.
In August 2023, Markle’s mom, Doria Ragland, hung out with Jenner and Kim Kardashian at an LA gala.
The “Suits” alum has also sent a basket with her jar and lemons to stars such as Chrissy Teigen, Mindy Kaling, Tracee Ellis Ross, Abigail Spencer and more.
Royal critics, however, were quick to slam Markle on X (formerly Twitter) once Jenner confirmed she made the cut.
“Kris Jenner shows off #MeghanMarkle’s AMAZING handwriting/calligraphy! Sheesh!” one person wrote.
“Must of been a late delivery…lemons look wilted?” another joked.
“Good grief Kris Jenner is worth billions but could not afford some fresh lemons these look like she pulled them out of the garbage they look rotten.”
Others were a bit more brutal.
“Meghan Markle could not sink any lower. Nobody decent will have any thing to do with her,” a third commenter posted.
And a fourth shared: “Does Meghan truly expect Kris Jenner to be impressed by strawberry jam in a bowl of bruised lemons and shredded paper? This whole business venture is a lemon. Does anyone believe she’ll ever actually sell jam?”
Another scoffed that Markle previously wore “Princess Diana’s jewelry” but is now sending her new product to the reality TV momager.
“Sad that her friends have been reduced to the Kardashian/Jenner family. And of course, Kris has to let the world know she’s friends with Meg and harry,” another critic tweeted.
“Kris Jenner got her money to promote Meghan Markle’s garbage … I’m sure she gave it away just as soon as it came,” slammed a social media user.
Markle announced her new business venture last month.
She and husband Prince Harry have been attending engagement events and booking Netflix deals after stepping down as “working royals” and moving to Montecito, Calif., in 2020. Harry, 39, also notably released his memoir “Spare” in January 2023.
Products from Markle’s company are not yet available for purchase.
“So far, the jams have been sent to only 50 people. This suggests that it will be an exclusive and limited edition item,” PR expert Mayah Riaz told the Mirror.
“It has already been reported a single jam jar could cost three figures. I believe that is entirely likely from what we have seen so far. This is not rare for a celebrity brand.”
“Therefore, my estimation is that American Riveria Orchard in under a year could make Meghan seven figures. It is entirely possible for the brand to make multi-seven figures by the end of next year,” the PR guru added.
Riaz said that Markle will likely release a range of limited-edition jams that boast different flavors.
“It is possible that Meghan that we may see Meghan bring out American Riviera Orchard honey — which would be limited edition,” she said.
“Along with jams, honey, she may possibly even create sauces and pestos. Essentially items which are seen as luxury and would sit well in hampers,” Riaz shared, adding that “they would also be ideal items for gifting — if you can get your hands on them.”
Markle’s trademark application is awaiting examination and is seeking approval for cookbooks. According to the filing, the mother of two also plans to sell tableware, drinkware, decanters, kitchen linens, marmalade and spreads.
