Meghan McCain says she's sick of comments about her weight: 'Men just don't have that problem'
If you’ve got something to say about Meghan McCain’s weight, she’s not interested in hearing it.
McCain fired back at critics of her appearance on Monday’s episode of the View, saying she’d rather have people talk about her political views instead.
“I hope this doesn’t come across as arrogant in any way, but I think I’m really good at talking about politics—it’s the only thing I think I’m really good at, and I would like to talk about politics and not have every comment be about the way I look and my weight. It makes you feel weird,” said McCain.
She added, “Men just don’t have that problem.”
McCain made the comments during a conversation about a recent CBS Sunday Morning interview featuring supermodel Paulina Porizkova, where the 54-year-old shared her frustrations with getting older.
“It's really freaking hard to be a woman. And it's really freaking hard to be a woman over 50. Because we really get dismissed from the table,” said Porizkova.
McCain also defended her co-hosts who are also routinely criticized for their appearance.
“Everyone talks about how we look on this show all the time. Can’t you just hear what you have to say?” asked McCain.
Guest co-host Ana Navarro weighed in, countering “I’m not sure Chris Christie would agree, or Mike Bloomberg would agree, or Donald Trump would agree.”
But McCain pushed back against Navarro.
“I’m sorry—there’s no way Mike Bloomberg in any way has experienced anything like the kind of stuff I’ve experienced and all the women on this show have experienced in any way on social media,” said McCain.
Viewers took to Twitter to share their reactions to McCain’s comments, and some said they agreed with her:
@TheView I rarely agree with Meghan McCain’s political view, but she is a beautiful women, there is no doubt about it! Stand strong and proud!

@TheView look at my old nemesis Meghan McCain spouting knowledge! When you're right, you're right! She's on point 'right now'! Go 'head girl!

But others challenged McCain’s assertion that she’s “really good at talking about politics,”
@TheView @MeghanMcCain Meghan you are not good at talking about politics because you are pushing your own personal feelings. Talking about politics and reporting politics need someone who is not just thinking of themselves! No Meghan! You’re wrong!

And Meghan McCain says she's best at talking politics. 😂😂😂 she's definitely mediocre at best, with her propaganda & lies, and white privilege. Like she could actually understand the average American. pic.twitter.com/XGt8iK8ePs
