Meghan McCain slams White House for pulling Kurdish support: 'You feckless, unpatriotic cowards'
The View celebrated co-host Joy Behar’s birthday today, but candles weren’t the only thing getting fired up at the Hot Topics table, as Meghan McCain erupted with anger over the news that President Trump is pulling support of Kurdish troops at the Syrian border.
There were hints of a coming storm towards the end of the show’s second segment, when McCain interrupted moderator Whoopi Goldberg as she attempted to take the show to a commercial break. “I actually have something else to say. I have been furious all morning,” said McCain. “But we have to go to a commercial break because, as usual, we never have time to talk about anything.”
Goldberg made sure that McCain got her time once the show returned to air, and McCain didn’t hold back. “I’m going a little bit rogue,” McCain warned. “These are allies of ours that American soldiers are still continuing to fight alongside. All we did is arm them and they fought for America, and right now we’re just saying ‘we’re just going to leave them and abandon them.’ And to everyone in the White House and to every Republican who was mad that President Obama pulled out of Iraq: You feckless, unpatriotic cowards,” McCain continued.
“What message is this sending to our allies who have fought alongside us and to our American troops who have fought and died for this?” asked McCain. “I’m sorry this is not the topic, but I just couldn’t come out here today and not say this,” said McCain, to applause from the studio audience.
Trump’s move elicited criticism from both sides of the aisle, including from Sen. Lindsey Graham, who Tweeted that the situation could be a “disaster in the making:”
I don’t know all the details regarding President Trump’s decision in northern Syria. In process of setting up phone call with Secretary Pompeo.

Many viewers on Twitter expressed their thanks to McCain for her passionate position on the issue:
Thanks for speaking up Meghan. Your Dad is proud of you.

I rarely agree with @MeghanMcCain - until today! Yes! You’re 💯 on this and your anger is justified. This should upset ALL Americans.

But others wrote that they were skeptical whether McCain would continue to slam Republicans or whether her take was merely a passing outburst:
How is Meghan going to vote in 2020. Or is this a one day outburst 😂😂

Same for me. If only she would stick with it. Tomorrow she will blame Democrats for the situation.
