Meghan McCain and Abby Huntsman on their friendship: 'We’re like salt and pepper'
Abby Huntsman says that she and the co-host of ABC's "The View," Meghan McCain, are like "salt and pepper."
The two opened up to People about their friendship.
Huntsman, daughter of Jon Huntsman Jr., the former governor of Utah, and McCain, daughter of the late Arizona Sen. John McCain, are close.
“I always say, ‘Everyone needs salt and pepper and you need them both together.’ You don’t just want the pepper and you don’t just want the salt," said Huntsman.
Huntsman and McCain have been through a great deal together not only working at "The View" but in their personal lives. Between Facetime calls, texts and hours of advice, the two have maintained a relationship that they compared to sisterhood.
McCain said Huntsman was one of the first people she told about her miscarriage while Huntsman said McCain was the first person she contacted to announce that she was pregnant with twins.

Their friendship began when they were working at Fox News and living in New York City. It started with an invitation from Huntsman: Would McCain like to go out for a drink?
Huntsman recalled in the interview with People that she did so at her mother's suggestion, who told her that the pair seemed like two peas in a pod.
“It was my mom, she was like, ‘You and Meghan have so much in common, you guys have got to just connect,'” Huntsman remembers.
They hit it off. And the day they had that first drink, they agreed to always support each other.
“We have had so many bad experiences in this industry, where women were not supporting other women. And I’ve seen it and experienced it, and Abby’s seen it and experienced it,” McCain said. “Everybody always tries to pit us against each other or act like there’s only one job for one politician’s daughter."

There have been rumors of feuding between all of the co-hosts of "The View," which is also hosted by Whoopi Goldberg, Sunny Hostin and Joy Behar.
Huntsman sought to quash those stories in September.
"People always want something to write about, and they'll make a much bigger story often out of nothing," Huntsman said to E! News. "If you wanna spend time backstage with us, we're all humans, we're all women, we all have the same dreams in life, we go home to our kids."
McCain and Huntsman have qualities that differ but that's what brings them together.
“I don’t want to be friends with myself,” Huntsman said to People. “I don’t want to be friends with someone that’s exactly like me, because you don’t learn as much.”
McCain has posted photos with Huntsman on Instagram on multiple occasions. In March, she captioned a photo of the two calling Huntsman her "ride or die."
