Meghan McCain thanks Chris Evans for coming to her father's defense
Meghan McCain is officially Team Captain America.
Chris Evans, who plays the Avenger, came to the defense of her father this week, and she expressed her gratitude on Twitter.
What a find by @JakeSherman – Trump talking about McCain's service in Vietnam during an interview with Dan Rather in 1999!

A clip has surfaced of a 1999 interview in which Donald Trump says he isn’t sure if Sen. John McCain is a war hero, and it has made Evans really angry. “He was captured — does being captured make you a hero? I don’t know. I’m not sure, I don’t know,” Trump tells interviewer Dan Rather. The clip has been viewed 1.4 million times, and one of those viewers is Evans.
The actor didn’t mince words in tweeting his response to the video, even referring to Trump’s avoidance of military service.
This really makes my blood boil. John McCain risked his life for this country and was tortured for FIVE FUCKING YEARS. Meanwhile, this pile of garbage with a butthole for a mouth got FIVE DEFERMENTS. How can ANY veteran or active service member defend this shameful irreverence? https://t.co/VbDNEwzrmR

Evans’s tweet has received 90,000 likes and almost 3,000 comments from impressed fans — one being the daughter of the Arizona senator, who has brain cancer. The co-host of The View wrote:
Thank you for your support of my father and his service but more importantly the service of all men and women who choose to serve our country – all are deserving of our admiration and respect for their courage. As are all of our brave POW’s who have sacrificed so much for freedom https://t.co/FXtz92XopA

Oh, and in response to Trump’s query, a 2008 survey of 526 World War II combat veterans found that leadership, loyalty, and risk taking are three “differentiating dimensions of combat-decorated heroism.” John McCain was captured while flying a mission over Hanoi in 1967, and when he was offered release after a year in captivity, he “refused to be repatriated ahead of American prisoners who had been in captivity longer than he.” Does that answer the question?
