Megyn Kelly reacts to Charlize Theron playing her in 'Bombshell'
Megyn Kelly doesn’t hate that Charlize Theron is playing her in Bombshell.
The former NBC and Fox News personality was asked about the upcoming drama about the fall of disgraced Fox News honcho Roger Ailes. The buzzy trailer for the film — which also stars Nicole Kidman as Gretchen Carlson, whose 2016 sexual harassment lawsuit led to Ailes’s resignation, and Margot Robbie as Fox News associate producer Kayla Pospisil — was released in late August ahead of its Dec. 20 release.
While Kelly told the DailyMail that she doesn’t “know anything about” the movie — she went on to add, “I’m [Theron’s] fan. She seems smart, seems like a good mom, so I could do worse.”
Kelly — who came forward after Carlson in making sexual harassment allegations against Ailes — added that she’s unsure if she’ll watch the film.
“I haven’t decided that yet,” she replied. “I'm going to let someone who loves me watch it first and tell me if I should see it or not.”
Kelly didn’t watch Showtime’s The Loudest Voice mini-series about the scandal, which starred Russell Crowe and Naomi Watts.
When the Bombshell trailer came out, social media was abuzz over how well Theron models Kelly’s face and fashions.
Theron has said she has “empathy” for Kelly after playing her in the movie, helmed by Jay Roach.
“I didn’t know how complicated her situation was and I think for a lot of people, they didn’t understand why she didn’t just speak up," Theron told Variety. "She was in a complicated place and as a human being, I have empathy for that. I don’t think a lot of people truly understood that.”
John Lithgow plays Ailes in the film. Allison Janney and Ashley Greene also have roles.
