Mel B ticks off Spice Girls fans with Halloween costume mocking Victoria Beckham: 'So girl power is over now?'
This won’t bring the Spice Girls back together.
Mel B attended her America’s Got Talent pal Heidi Klum’s Halloween party dressed as Posh Spice, Victoria Beckham. If it were a tribute, it would be one thing, but in addition to the Posh mask and LBD, the singer (real name: Melanie Brown) carried a sign saying, “No I am not going on tour.” Meanwhile, Brown’s BFF Gary Madatyan dressed as David Beckham and carried his own sign begging Victoria to reconsider.

Getting Victoria to reconsider touring with the power girl group, which burst on the scene in 1994 but parted ways in 2000, has been a thing. Rumors about a reunion (they had them in 2007-8 and 2012) were seemingly confirmed by Brown, whose onstage persona was Scary Spice, in September, but she said the ladies — Melanie Chisholm (Sporty Spice), Geri Halliwell (Ginger Spice), and Emma Bunton (Baby Spice) — would be doing it sans Beckham.

“We’ll see about that one, but us four are definitely going on tour,” Brown told James Corden in September. She then added that Victoria “may join us for a few” dates, before looking into the camera and adding, “She better do it.” Of note, there’s been no official Spice Girls reunion tour announcement — just Brown saying it’s happening.
As for Beckham, she has made her stance pretty clear. After all five of the women got together at Halliwell’s house earlier this year for lunch, rumors started, but Beckham shot them down. “It was so great to see the girls,” she told Vogue in February. “I still speak to them all individually, but for us all to get together was really lovely.” That said, she made it clear that overseeing her fashion empire “is what I do” now. “I’m not going on tour. The girls aren’t going on tour.”
While we can only imagine the look on Beckham’s face when she saw the photos of Brown’s Halloween costume, Spice fans have been expressing themselves on social media. She’s been called “bitter,” a “bully,” “desperate,” a “troll,” and “pathetic.”
“We’re calling you out,” posted one person. “Be a true Spice Girl. Women support women. Do not make yourself a star at the expense of another. Making another personal a laughing stock to prove your point?? Then later you will cry that you are being trolled and bullied??? You bullied first! Not funny at all!”
Another chimed in: “So girl power is over now? We no longer support women’s choices we mock them cos we think they owe us a career … Cool.”
“Right decision for vb not to join this group.” wrote another. “I mean?? If this is an example of the s*** she has to deal with … never mind. Coz really, out of all the 5 girls … vb is the most stable and successful … personal and career wise!”
“Bully supported!!! Sad sad Spice gGrls fan here. 21 yrs of looking up to you girls and this????,” wrote another longtime fan of the group.
“This is just the POOREST THING you’ve ever done in your career. You should just get a real job or count on your own efforts instead of acting like the shadow of what you were,” wrote another.
“omg the shade of it all smh, I’m disappointed,” commented one.
And finally, “Yeah well … this was really sloppy,” one fan said.
Brown did make some people LOL though. “Laughing until I die!” wrote a fan. And some straight-up loved it. “This is literally the best,” said another. Others fought about whether Brown’s comment was racist.
While Brown has had professional success in her post-Spice Girls world, including her AGT gig, she has had a string of personal issues. Her extremely bitter divorce has kept her in the headlines. She recently sought treatment for issues stemming from PTSD but denied she is an alcoholic or sex addict.
