Mel Brooks, 94, endorses Biden, says Trump isn't 'doing a damn thing' about coronavirus
At 94 years young, Mel Brooks just made a big political statement. The comedy legend revealed he’s voting for Joe Biden for president because the Democratic nominee likes “science” and “facts.” And Brooks slams President Donald Trump for his handling of the coronavirus pandemic.
"My father, @MelBrooks, is 94. He has never made a political video. Until now,” Brooks’s son Max tweeted along with the clip.
In the video, the Young Frankenstein director is seen sitting at his desk while his son and grandson stand behind him outside.
“They can’t be with me,” Brooks says. “Why? Because of this coronavirus — and Donald Trump’s not doing a damn thing about it. So many people have died. And when you’re dead, you can’t do much. So, I’m voting for Joe Biden.”
The iconic writer and producer — who has a “Cup of Joe” mug — goes on to explain why he likes Biden while his son and grandson hold up Biden-Harris campaign signs.
“Why do I like Joe? Because Joe likes facts. Because Joe likes science. Joe will keep us going,” he continues. “Take a tip from me, vote for Joe.”
Brooks concludes by telling fans he’s leaving to go vote.
