Melania Trump's press secretary slams 'The View' for airing #FakeMelania segment: 'Shameful'
On The View Monday, the hosts broke down the conspiracy theory surrounding #FakeMelania that regained momentum over the weekend.
After photos of first lady Melania Trump appearing alongside President Trump in Alabama went viral, Twitter lit up with #FakeMelania as opinions, memes, GIFs and “photographic evidence” made the rounds.
I clicked on #FakeMelania against my better judgement and I have to say that it DOES NOT look like Melania.

I don’t know what this #FakeMelania is all about. pic.twitter.com/3Fe7yw2sYD

Please stop with the #FakeMelania silliness. C’mon. It’s probably just bad lighting and lack of sleep. pic.twitter.com/9TV8dA80zn

I’m sorry, but there’s no way that’s Melania. This woman is walking and waving without Melania’s signature stiffness. #FakeMelania is REAL, people. https://t.co/fZUNauN0Ji

Questions:
1) Does Donald realise that’s not Melania?
2) Do the American media realise that’s not Melania?
3) Is Melania dead? #FakeMelania https://t.co/XTRfXQrTxZ— Chris H (@Chris_CPH) March 9, 2019
The recasting of Melania is the worst I’ve seen since they recast Aunt Viv in Fresh Prince #fakemelania pic.twitter.com/HDIMi7FDAh

But some on Twitter just aren’t buying it.
#FakeMelania Hair, makeup, lighting, shoes and clothing can make people look vastly different from photo to photo. As much as Melania probably WISHES she had a clone or a body double, it honestly just looks like an unaltered photo where she has less makeup on than usual.

I’m not saying anything definitive one way or the other on that photo but why would a #FakeMelania *and* Melania both be there? pic.twitter.com/Fx7hAbvmbT

Meanwhile, on The View, co-host Joy Behar didn’t want to believe it — but after taking a closer look did admit that the photos from Alabama show someone with “a different shaped face,” and Sunny Hostin admittedly dug into the conspiracy for over an hour and also thinks there might be something to it.
“Melania is a very tall, statuesque woman,” Hostin said, then referenced the photos from Alabama: “Look how short she looks.”
After the segment aired Monday morning, Stephanie Grisham, the first lady’s press secretary and communications director, took to Twitter to bash The View.
.@flotus & @potus traveled to Alabama to pay their respects & comfort victims of the tornado devastation. In typical fashion, @theview chooses to laugh in the face of tragedy. Shameful. https://t.co/KzG2c4Th4a

The View airs weekdays at 11 a.m. on ABC.
