Memorial Stadium hosting movie night next month

CHAMPAIGN, Ill. (WCIA) — Movie night is coming back to Memorial Stadium ahead of football season.

The University of Illinois’ athletics department announced that Busey Bank Movie Night at Memorial Stadium is back for another year. Scheduled for Saturday, Aug. 10, the stadium’s video board will be showing a family friendly movie with spectator seating on Zuppke Field.

The movie being shown has not been announced yet; Illinois Athletics is leaving that up to the fans to decide. The four options are IF, Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire, Kung Fu Panda 4 and Wonka.

Online voting is open through July 28.

In addition to the movie, the event doubles as a meet-and-greet with the 2024 Illinois football team. Players will be available for photos and autographs from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. before the movie starts at 7.

Illini Athletics announces new ticket, seating model

Fans will not be allowed to bring chairs into Memorial Stadium for the movie. They are also prohibited from bringing outside food and beverages, but concession stands will be open and food trucks will be on hand.
