Mempho Music Festival 2024 lineup: Queens of the Stone Age, The Roots among performers
Phish frontman Trey Anastasio, Seattle rockers Queens of the Stone Age, "outlaw" country artist Cody Jinks and hip-hop collective The Roots are among the acts set to perform during this year's seventh annual Mempho Music Festival, organizers announced Wednesday, May 22.
The event is scheduled for Oct. 4-6 at Radians Amphitheater at the Memphis Botanic Garden, the festival's home since 2021. Launched in 2017, Mempho previously was staged at Shelby Farms Park.
Specific lineups for specific days have yet to be announced. The acts will perform on three stages, and deejays will host a "silent disco" (headphones deliver the music) inside a space labeled the "Incendia Dome."
As leader of the jam band Phish, a phenomenally successful live act, Anastasio and his "Classic TAB" (Trey Anastasio Band) could be the festival's biggest draw. The other headliners are Jinks and Queens of the Stone Age.
In addition to The Roots (who performed at the 2023 Memphis in May Beale Street Music Festival), hip-hop will be represented by Digable Planets, an "alternative" jazz-rap trio (members include "Butterfly," "Ladybug Mecca" and "Doodlebug") that scored a big hit in 1992 with "Rebirth of Slick (Cool Like Dat)," which showcased a prominent sample from a recording by Art Blakey & the Jazz Messengers.
The lineup of national and local pop, rock, country, folk, soul and even gospel acts also includes Sublime with Rome, Marcus King, Charles Wesley Godwin, Drew Holcomb and The Neighbors, Cory Wong, Goose, the Warren Haynes Band, The Kills, All Them Witches, Brent Cobb, Darren Kiely, Karina Rykman, Jerry Joseph & The Jackmorons, Robert Jon & The Wreck, Blue Mountain, Mark Edgar Stuart, the Legendary Jubilee Hummingbirds and a revue featuring artists who have recorded for the University of Memphis Blue Tom label.

The festival will be just one highlight of a busy year for the Mempho organization, which this month introduced two major events in Tom Lee Park, the RiverBeat Music Festival and the SmokeSlam barbecue festival.
"Early bird" three-day general admission tickets to Mempho are $190 each. Tickets can be purchased at memphofest.com/tickets. Announcements about single-day tickets and daily music lineups will be made at memphofest.com.
