Meryl Streep debuts on 'Big Little Lies' to rave reviews
Meryl Streep made her debut as Perry’s mother, Mary Louise, on the season 2 premiere of Big Little Lies and needless to say, fans loved every minute of it. Streep delivered the kind of nuanced performance audiences have come to expect, and her addition only made an already great cast even greater.

As for Mary Louise, she’s surely going to stir up some trouble for our heroes this season. Speaking to Reese Witherspoon’s Madeline, Mary Louise says, “You know what I want? I want Perry back. I want to know what happened that night and I’m very tempted to ask you but I doubt I would get the truth, would I?”
I am living for the shady non-apology Mary Louise gave Madeline. 😂😂😂

Fans instantly found Mary Louise’s sharp tongue endearing, like when she kind of, but not really, apologized to Madeline for her earlier comments and ended up comparing her to a childhood friend.
“She was just an itty bitty little thing with a big bubbly personality that was designed to hide that she was utterly vapid inside,” Mary Louise said to Madeline, adding, “You remind me so much of her. I suppose I punish you for that.”
And if fans are right, Streep, a three-time Emmy winner, may be on her way to a fourth Emmy win.
