Metropolitan Detention Center: Notable Inmates Who’ve Been Jailed At The Controversial Brooklyn Facility

The Metropolitan Detention Center (MDC) in Brooklyn, New York, is currently under investigation due to reportedly horrid conditions, with the Bureau of Prisons telling the Associated Press that the “interagency operation” is “designed to achieve our shared goal of maintaining a safe environment for both our employees and the incarcerated individuals housed at MDC Brooklyn.”

Inmates housed at the facility have often complained about the violence, staff shortages, drug smuggling, and inadequate living conditions, according to AP. The New York Post adds that the federal jail has long been plagued with tales of “barbaric” and “reprehensible” conditions, including reports of maggot-infested food, rats crawling through cells, power outages, and more.

The facility is currently the home of Sean “Diddy” Combs, who was arrested in September on charges of racketeering conspiracy; sex trafficking by force, fraud, or coercion; and transportation to engage in prostitution. With his bail denied twice, the Bad Boy founder could be detained at the controversial center until his May 2025 trial date.
