'Creed II': Michael B. Jordan risks it all for Creed-Drago Round 2 in new trailer

“If we don’t do what we love, then we wouldn’t exist,” says Adonis Creed (Michael B. Jordan) at the outset of the new trailer for Creed II. What follows is action that suggests that the upcoming sequel will be yet another installment in the Rocky franchise for fans to adore.

Fully laying out its plot, the new promo for Creed II — directed by Steven Caple Jr., taking over for the original helmer, Ryan Coogler — shows Adonis rushing headfirst into a fight with Viktor Drago (Florian Munteanu), the son of Ivan Drago (Dolph Lundgren), who famously killed Adonis’s dad, Apollo (Carl Weathers), in a U.S. vs. U.S.S.R. exhibition bout at the beginning of Rocky IV. Though he’s counseled by his trainer, Rocky Balboa (Sylvester Stallone), not to enter the ring with Viktor, who he says was “raised in hate,” it’s clear that Adonis isn’t going to listen to the Italian Stallion’s advice. That said, it does appear he’ll learn a valuable lesson about why he wants to go toe-to-toe with this Russian adversary, especially when he’s putting everything on the line — including his happy life with his girlfriend, Bianca Porter (Tessa Thompson), and their baby boy.

Co-starring Phylicia Rashad as Adonis’s mother, and reportedly also featuring supporting turns from Milo Ventimiglia as Rocky’s son, Robert (a role he played in Rocky Balboa) and Brigitte Nielsen as Ivan’s wife and Viktor’s mother, Ludmila (which she played in Rocky IV), Creed II enters theaters on Nov. 21.
