The actor is set to direct and star in a remake of The Thomas Crown Affair for Amazon MGM Studios that will be released in theaters, PEOPLE confirms.

Jordan's project will mark the third iteration of The Thomas Crown Affair on film, after the original and a 1999 remake starring Pierce Brosnan and Rene Russo.
In the 1968 film, Dunaway played a private investigator caught up in an affair with the wealthy mastermind behind a bank heist, played by another '60s heartthrob, McQueen.
The new Thomas Crown Affair will be the second big-screen directorial project for Jordan after last year's Creed III, in which he also starred.
Creed III made history as the biggest domestic opening for a sports film ever, grossing $58.6 million upon its release in North America. It went on to make more than $276 million worldwide.

Aside from Thomas Crown Affair, Jordan is also gearing up to costar with Will Smith in I Am Legend 2, a sequel to Smith's 2007 post-apocalyptic movie.
"We're still working on the script and getting that up to par," Jordan told PEOPLE in June. "It doesn't have a release date or anything like that."
While he wasn't "sure exactly where [they're] going to be filming," the 2020 PEOPLE Sexiest Man Alive added that he was "really excited to get in front of the camera with" Smith, 55.
"Being somebody that I've looked up to for a really long time, to be able to work with Will is something I'm really looking forward to. I'm really excited," Jordan said.
