Michael Bublé 'not retiring' amidst young son's cancer battle
Michael Bublé will not be retiring, says his publicist. This comes in despite of Bublé declaring to Daily Mail’s Weekend magazine that he is retiring to focus on his young son Noah’s battle with liver cancer.
Bublé’s publicist, Liz Rosenberg, told Insider he is ‘absolutely’ not retiring.
“Michael Bublé has absolutely no plans to retire. I wasn’t sitting in on the interview but this must have been taken out of context,” Rosenberg confirmed.
She continued to say that Bublé may have been referring to the difficult time when his then three-year-old son Noah was diagnosed with liver cancer in 2016.
“Perhaps as he discussed the different emotions he’s been through these last few years, that thought might have gone through his mind.
“I assure you with a new album coming out, TV appearances, and a possible tour, he is not retiring,” Rosenberg added.
In the surprising Daily Mail interview, Bublé said it was his last interview and he would be retiring from the music industry.
“This is my last interview. I’m retiring from the business. I’ve made the perfect record and now I can leave at the top,” Bublé said.
He also said that Noah’s heartbreaking diagnosis had put his life’s priorities into perspective, and he now couldn’t ‘stomach’ the ‘celebrity narcissism’ lifestyle anymore.
“I don’t have the stomach for it anymore.
“The diagnosis made me realize how stupid I’d been to worry about these unimportant things. I was embarrassed by my ego, that it had allowed this insecurity,” he said.
The 43-year-old singer opened up about the immense struggle he and his wife, Argentinian actress Luisa Lopilato have gone through.
“You just want to die. I don’t even know how I was breathing.
“My wife was the same and even though I was the stronger of the two of us, I wasn’t strong. My wife was… I’m sorry, I can’t make it to the end of the sentence… let’s just say we find out who we are with these things,” he said.
