Michael Douglas Shares the Consequence of Losing to Wife Catherine Zeta-Jones (and This Is TMI, Michael)

Michael Douglas and Catherine Zeta-Jones don't shy away from playful competition, even after nearly 25 years of marriage.

During an appearance on The View on July 10, the Avengers star divulged a cheeky detail about their golf games. When asked about the stakes of their friendly matches, Douglas shared that his wife has a rather bold demand if he loses.

"Whip it out," Douglas revealed to the astonished hosts. "She says, 'You've gotta whip it out.'"

Laughing, the Last Vegas actor elaborated, "Drop the trou and whip it out."

Host Alyssa Farah Griffin, taken aback by the candid admission, quipped, "That's the secret to a marriage."

Douglas, who turns 80 in September, added that he's found a way to avoid these playful penalties. "I now play off the ladies' tees, so I don't have to do that anymore," he said with a smile.

Michael Douglas, 79, and Catherine Zeta-Jones, 54, first crossed paths in France during the '90s, a memorable encounter the actor recently reflected on in a heartfelt birthday tribute to his wife.

Sharing a nostalgic photo of the couple at a table, Douglas recalled, “My first night meeting Catherine at the Deauville Film Festival in 1998. I found out that she had the same birthday as me—tadaah!”

Continuing his message for Zeta-Jones's 52nd birthday, Douglas added, “Then when I discovered she loved golf, I realized all my fantasies had come true. I've lucked out at this time in my life. I just lucked out. I'm so impressed by her intelligence, sense of humor, and work ethic. Happy Birthday Catherine—I love you so much!”

The couple, who wed in 2000, has since become proud parents to son Dylan, 23, and daughter Carys, 21. Douglas also has a 45-year-old son, Cameron, with ex-wife Diandra Luker.
