Michael Keaton Learned About Spider-Man From a Friend’s Kids
On Wednesday, Michael Keaton — possibly the best Batman ever — stopped by Ellen, where he talked about his new film, Spider-Man: Homecoming. Keaton plays the Vulture, which means he’ll be fighting Spider-Man and possibly other members of the Avengers. The problem here is that Keaton didn’t know much about the history of the vast Marvel Universe or how the many characters are linked. So he went to the experts who were sure to be the most reliable sources: his friend’s kids.
“I’ve got a very good friend, Mary, and she’s got two little girls who are way into this. I think at the time I was making the movie they were 9 and 11. And I would call them on the phone and I’d go, ‘Wait. when did Peter Parker meet Iron. …’ I actually asked them because they knew. They had all the information. That’s basically how I formed my character,” Keaton said.
Ellen Degeneres was quick to point out it might not be the best idea to give the girls credit.
“Wow. And they’re probably watching now, going, ‘Where’s our money? Where’s our cut?’,” DeGeneres joked.
