Michael Madsen Accuses Wife Of Abuse & Causing Their Son's Suicide In Divorce Filing After Arrest

Michael Madsen has not only filed to divorce his estranged wife, DeAnna Madsen but also made shocking allegations in the court document, claiming she played a role in their son's tragic death.

The actor was recently taken into custody after he allegedly shoved DeAnna and had to post a $20,000 bond shortly after. However, law enforcement opted against filing charges due to insufficient evidence.

Michael Madsen and DeAnna lost their son, Hudson, to self-inflicted gunshot wounds in 2022, with the "Kill Bill" star noting at the time that the incident blindsided him.

According to TMZ, Madsen has officially filed to divorce his wife, DeAnna, claiming that he had been a victim of her abuse for years, as well as accusing her of being the cause of their son's suicidal death.

The "Reservoir Dogs" actor put pen to paper on Wednesday, citing "irreconcilable differences" as the cause of their split while also noting that he'd been separated from her since January 2022.

Madsen said in his divorce petition that he separated from DeAnna because he believed "her neglect, drinking, and alcoholism" caused their son Hudson to take his own life.

He added that she was also instrumental in his struggles as she put him in an "abusive, co-dependent, and toxic relationship," which he says ended with his wrongful arrest for domestic violence last month.

Madsen is also seeking a domestic violence restraining order from her on top of his divorce.

Madsen's divorce petition comes on the back of his arrest last month after he allegedly pushed DeAnna and locked her outside their L.A. home.

It wasn't clear what the issue was between them; however, law enforcement had a conversation with them before taking the "Species" actor into custody for a domestic battery misdemeanor under Penal Code 243(e)(1), meaning force or violence was allegedly used against a cohabitant.

At the time, DeAnna reportedly refused to receive medical attention after cops calmed the situation. Madsen then posted a $20,000 bond shortly after before he was released from custody.

His team later shared a statement explaining that the incident "was a disagreement between Michael and his wife" and that they hope it "resolves positively for them both."

According to the news outlet, the domestic violence case was later dismissed because of "insufficient evidence."

"We are thrilled that Michael Madsen is able to put this behind him and look forward to our continued collaboration with more great things coming from this veteran and respected actor," a representative for the actor shared at the time, per TMZ.

Shortly after the incident, DeAnna, who married Madsen in 1996, shared her side of the story, saying that the actor was dealing with his "struggles."

"Michael is struggling with his own personal issues. Myself and our children have been supporting him to the best of our ability. We would request privacy at this time," the 64-year-old broke her silence in a statement shared with The Hollywood Reporter at the time.

However, Madsen's longtime attorney, Perry Wander, had a different account of the incident. He told the news outlet that DeAnna "broke into" Madsen's Malibu home, and he "confronted" and "asked her to leave," adding that the situation "has been an ongoing problem" for them.

"Michael has shown immense compassion and restraint during this period towards his estranged wife," the lawyer added. "He's definitely not guilty of domestic violence."

Madsen and DeAnna share three children - Hudson, Luke, and Calvin. Unfortunately, their son Hudson died of a self-inflicted gunshot wound on the island of Oahu in 2022.

According to People Magazine, Madsen said at the time that he was blindsided by the death of Hudson, who was 26 years old and a member of the U.S. Army, as things looked okay with him when they spoke a few days before the incident happened.

"I am in shock as my son, whom I just spoke with a few days ago, said he was happy — my last text from him was 'I love you, dad,'" he said in a statement shared with The Los Angeles Times at the time.

"I didn't see any signs of depression. It's so tragic and sad. I'm just trying to make sense of everything and understand what happened," Madsen continued. "He had typical life challenges that people have with finances, but he wanted a family. He was looking towards his future, so it's mind-blowing. I just can't grasp what happened."

According to the Daily Mail, he requested that an investigation into his son's death be carried out as he believes "the officers and rank and file were shaming" Hudson for wanting therapy.

Madsen reportedly thinks that was what stopped his son from seeking help for mental health issues he'd been keeping to himself.
