Michael Madsen And Wife DeAnna Speak Out After Domestic Violence Arrest
Amid the couple's reported altercation and the 66-year-old actor's subsequent run-in with the law, both parties have come forward to share their sides of the story.
Speaking to The Hollywood Reporter about the incident, Madsen's long-time attorney, Perry Wander, said that DeAnna "broke into" his Malibu home, and he "confronted" and "asked her to leave," adding that the situation "has been an ongoing problem."
"Michael has shown immense compassion and restraint during this period towards his estranged wife," the lawyer added. "He's definitely not guilty of domestic violence."
Meanwhile, DeAnna also broke her silence on the matter in a statement shared to the news outlet.
"Michael is struggling with his own personal issues. Myself and our children have been supporting him to the best of our ability. We would request privacy at this time," she noted.
A statement from Malibu/Lost Hills Station said that the investigation is "ongoing" and will be "forwarded to the Van Nuys Superior Court House for filing."
Michael Madsen Allegedly Pushed His Wife
Madsen was arrested over the weekend after he and his wife seemingly engaged in an altercation that allegedly got physical.
Reports had it that he allegedly pushed her and then locked her out of their Los Angeles home after they had a misunderstanding before cops waded in to calm the situation but arrested him. He's understood to have posted a $20,000 bond before he was released from custody later that day.
According to TMZ, Madsen's wife refused to receive medical attention after cops managed to settle things.
"It was a disagreement between Michael and his wife, which we hope resolves positively for them both," Madsen's team shared in a statement at the time.
The Actor's Arrest History
Madsen previously found himself behind jail bars in 2019 for driving under the influence and smashing a pole, as well as a 2022 arrest for allegedly trespassing on an unnamed property.
According to the Daily Mail, the property owner at the time reportedly phoned cops wanting to press charges, and when they arrived, they immediately suspected that he'd been drinking.
Madsen was given a field sobriety test but failed as his BAC was .10, as against the legal limit of .08. He was then transported to a hospital before he was taken back to the police station.
His booking documents at the time showed that he was given a $500 citation for the charge, with his bail set at $15,000.
The "Kill Bill" star was also taken into custody for driving under the influence in Malibu in 2012 when his BAC was twice the legal limit. He entered a 30-day rehab after that arrest, with the judge also ordering him to get outpatient treatment.
Michael Madsen Lost His Son
It remains unclear what the "personal issues" are that Madsen is going through, as claimed by his wife, but he had previously suffered agonizing pain when he lost his son Hudson to suicide two years ago.
According to People, Hudson, who was 26 years old at the time of his passing, died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound on the island of Oahu. Madsen said that he was blindsided by Hudson's death, noting that everything seemed fine when they spoke a few days before the incident happened.
"I am in shock as my son, whom I just spoke with a few days ago, said he was happy — my last text from him was 'I love you, dad,'" the "Hell Ride" actor said in a statement shared with The Los Angeles Times at the time.
"I didn't see any signs of depression. It's so tragic and sad. I'm just trying to make sense of everything and understand what happened," Madsen continued. "He had typical life challenges that people have with finances, but he wanted a family. He was looking towards his future, so it's mind-blowing. I just can't grasp what happened."
