Michael Phelps pared things back on Thursday for his appearance on “The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon.”
During his appearance, the decorated athlete wore a pair of white shoes from Golden Goose.
It appears as if the gold medal-winning Olympic swimmer is a fan of Golden Goose, as he’s worn the brand before. In 2021, he wore a red pair of Slide Penstar sneakers from Golden Goose in an appearance on the “Today” show.
While on “Tonight Show,” the athlete played “Water War,” which is an reimagined version of the card game “War,” and discussed his Olympic gold medal record, as well as some of his golfing practices.
About the Shoe
Phelps wore a proper minimal sneaker from Golden Goose. The shoes were the company’s Starter sneaker, which features an upper in natural calfskin and rubber sole. The sneaker includes perforation, as well as a tapered sole.
$565
It was handcrafted and made in Italy. The shoe also features the logo on the ankle collar.
Golden Goose History
Golden Goose was founded in Marghera, Italy, an industrial port of Venice, in 2000 by husband and wife duo Alessandro Gallo and Francesca Rinaldo. In 2020, it was acquired by the private equity fund Permira from the Carlyle Europe Buyout fund. The company is best known for its successful Superstar shoes, as well as distressed style. Footwear represents the lionshare of the company’s sales.
Several celebrities enjoy the shoes, including Zayn Malik and Millie Bobby Brown. Malik wore the shoes to film “Hot Ones,” while Brown attended a concert in a pair in 2023. Global ambassadors include Sunmi and William Chan. The company also often partners with athletes, namely skaters, on styles such as Briana King and others.
