Michael Rooker Blasts TikTok Users in Defense of Horizon: An American Saga
Michael Rooker has something to say to critics of Horizon: An American Saga.
Speaking out on the poor performance of Kevin Costner's historical western, which debuted to just $11 million at the domestic box office, Rooker urged people to give it a chance.
“It’s real cinema, folks. Be prepared. We ain’t used to that sh**,” Rooker told TMZ. “We’re used to 90-minute movies. Everything is 90 minutes. Give me a break. Get over that sh**. Let’s watch a movie that actually tells a story where you learn about the people and grow to like them or hate them. It’s not all fast and cut, cut cut.”
Rooker, who played Yondu in two Guardians of the Galaxy movies, stars in Horizon: An American Saga as Sgt. Major Thomas Riordan. When asked by TMZ if audiences were “TikTok-ified,” Rooker replied: “Totally they are. Of course they are. They got to get over that crap. They got to learn how to watch real cinema, please.”
Critics haven’t been kind either. Horizon: An American Saga disappointed in its first reviews, which means Warner Bros.' planned four-movie saga could be in doubt. A sequel is on the way, with Horizon: An American Saga - Chapter 2 in theaters August 16, 2024.
