Michelle Obama Generated $1.2 Million in Media Exposure for Monse Wearing the Luxury Brand at 2024 Democratic National Convention

Michelle Obama‘s speech at the 2024 Democratic National Convention boosted Monse’s organic publicity to large audiences, bringing the brand $1.2 million in media impact value — a proprietary metric developed by Launchmetrics that assigns a true monetary value to marketing strategies across print, online and social media to calculate ROI. The amount represents 19 percent of Monse’s media exposure in the first half of 2024.

Obama took the Democratic National Convention stage on Tuesday, wearing a tailored sleeveless jacket with a crisscross silhouette and matching trousers. Her look was from Monse’s resort 2025 collection. She accessorized with Jimmy Choo’s Scarlett pumps and jewelry by David Yurman.

Monse is a luxury fashion brand founded in 2015 by Fernando Garcia and Laura Kim, who are also co-creative directors at Oscar de la Renta. Obama had worn Oscar de la Renta multiple times in her public engagements, including at the 2016 luncheon to celebrate Queen Elizabeth II’s 90th birthday.

Obama’s speech, like her outfit, was highly praised on social media. “No matter how good we feel tonight or tomorrow or the next day this is going to be an uphill battle. This is up to us, all of us, to be the solution that we seek. It’s up to us to remember what Kamala’s mother told her: ‘Don’t just sit around and complain. Do something,’” she said.

The 2024 Democratic National Convention took place in Chicago from Monday to Thursday. The event was held to officially nominate Vice President Kamala Harris as the Democratic presidential candidate and affirm her choice of Governor Tim Walz of Minnesota for vice president.
