‘Mike and Molly’ Finale Recap: More to Love

After six seasons, Mike and Molly has finally ended. The characters were the first heavyset principal leads to star in a network sitcom so heavily centered around weight. And while that seemed revolutionary a few years back, now with “dad bods” and “real-size women” being more socially acceptable, it doesn’t seem like that big a deal. Although, the continual use of low-hanging food jokes might not be as welcome in modern sitcoms.

Mike and Molly ended the series by not only receiving a new adopted baby but also announcing that they are expecting a biological child. Molly announced the news immediately after introducing her new son by saying, “You know how you hear those stories about people that can’t have a baby and then they end up adopting and then the pressure’s kinda off of them and then they end up getting pregnant?” Obviously the writers know how much Mike loves going back for seconds.

The show will continue to live on in syndication and in the hearts of fans everywhere.
