Mike Myers has made a rare public appearance for the first time in over a year, debuting a brand new hairstyle as he stepped out to support Nicole Kidman as she received her AFI Life Achievement Award.
The Austin Powers alum hit the red carpet at the Dolby Theatre in Los Angeles on Saturday, April 27, looking dapper in a black tux with a crisp white button-up shirt and black bowtie as he showed off his new gray locks, styled in a spiked crew cut with a closely shaved beard—a stark contrast from his recognizable brunette combover.
Before heading inside, he paused to take selfies with fans lining the theater's entrance.
Though Myers did not present Kidman with her award, he did make a speech on her behalf, arriving on stage with his identity hidden behind a white mask with gold detailing across the upper half and a hooded black cape, which he dramatically shed as he arrived at the microphone—a nod to her 1999 film Eyes Wide Shut.
According to Us Weekly, on the red carpet, Myers told Entertainment Tonight that she is “one of the most versatile [people]” in the industry. “You admire her and you like her too, which is a very rare combination with any performer," he continued, adding, "I think everything she does is so elegant and first-class and fantastic."
Morgan Freeman agreed when he spoofed Kidman's beloved AMC Theatres commercial, saying "she makes movies better," while Meryl Streep brought tears to her eyes when she said, “People call it bravery when an actress bares all and leaps off into the unknown and she dives deep into the darker parts of what it is to be a human being. But I don’t think it’s bravery. I think it’s love. I think she just loves it,” per the AP.
Kidman was present with her husband, Keith Urban, and their two daughters, Sunday, 15, and Faith, 13, who made their red carpet debut to see their mom receive her big honor.
