Miles Teller Cast in Paramount’s An Officer and a Gentleman Remake
Miles Teller has been cast in Paramount’s An Officer and a Gentleman remake.
Per The Hollywood Reporter, Teller has officially been tapped to star in a remake of An Officer and a Gentleman for Paramount Pictures. A director is not yet attached to the project, while Dana Fox wrote the screenplay’s most recent draft. Matt Johnson penned the original draft.
Temple Hill is producing the film. No other casting has been announced at this time, and a release date has not yet been set.
Teller is known for playing Andrew Neiman in 2014’s Whiplash, directed by Damien Chazelle. He’s also played roles in movies such as 2014’s Divergent, 2015’s Fantastic Four, 2016’s War Dogs, and 2022’s Top Gun: Maverick.
He’ll soon be seen playing John Branca in Antoine Fuqua’s Michael Jackson biopic, Michael, which releases in April 2025. He’s also starring in Scott Derrickson’s The Gorge with Anya Taylor-Joy and A24’s Eternity with Elizabeth Olsen, Callum Turner, and Da’Vine Joy Randolph.
What was the original An Officer and a Gentleman about?
Released in 1982, An Officer and a Gentleman was directed by Taylor Hackford. It starred Richard Gere as Zachary “Zack” Mayo, Debra Winger as Paula Pokrifki, David Keith as Sid Worley, Louis Gossett Jr. as Emil Foley, and Lisa Blount as Lynette Pomeroy.
“Zack Mayo (Gere), a new member of the U.S. Navy, has a bad attitude,” the synopsis for the original movie reads. When he signs up for the Aviation Academy, he is met with the strict leadership of Sgt. Emil Foley (Gossett Jr.), who gives Zack a rude awakening in terms of relating with other people.
