Millie Bobby Brown on Filming Stranger Things Season 5: ‘It Does Feel Sad’
Millie Bobby Brown shared that filming the fifth and final season of Stranger Things — a series that catapulted her career to new heights — has been a mixture of both “good” and “sad” feelings.
While promoting her latest film project Damsel on Today with Hoda Kotb, the actress stated that filming the fifth and final season of the Netflix series made her feel sad, though she also expressed confidence over the upcoming season’s “unbelievable” storyline.
“We’re filming right now. And it feels good. It’s obviously our last season. So we’re really excited to be back together again for one last hurrah, but it does feel sad. Every day we go on set we’re like, ‘It’s the last second day,’ ‘It’s the last third day!’ But we’re definitely embracing it all. It’s really nice to be back with everyone and of course, the story is unbelievable,” Brown shared.

Brown starred as Eleven in the Duffer Brothers’ horror sci-fi series, alongside Finn Wolfhard as Mike Wheeler, Gaten Matarazzo as Dustin Henderson, Caleb McLaughlin as Lucas Sinclair, Sadie Sink as Max Mayfield, and Priah Ferguson as Erica Sinclair.
Production for Season 5 started in August 2022, but it was paused due to the now-resolved Hollywood strikes. The production resumed earlier this year.
Stranger Things Season 5 is set to be the “biggest” season ever
In a previous interview with The Guardian, Matt Duffer teased that Season 5 would be the “biggest” season yet for the sci-fi series, comparing it to the first season but “on steroids.”
“It’s the biggest it’s ever been in terms of scale, but it has been really fun, because everyone’s back together in Hawkins: the boys and Eleven interacting more in line with how it was in season one. And, yes, there may be spin-offs, but the story of Eleven and Dustin and Lucas and Hopper, their stories are done here,” said Duffer.
No release date has been set yet for Stranger Things Season 5, but it is expected to arrive sometime in 2025. Meanwhile, Brown’s latest project, Damsel, will hit Netflix on March 8.
