'The Office' star bonded with fans over nostalgic TV shows after recently joining Threads
Mindy Kaling is confessing it all!
The actress, 45, recently made her debut on Threads, a social media app created by Instagram, where she has been interacting with fans and responding through voice notes and text prompts about nostalgic television.
"If there’s one social media trend I identify with, it’s talking. Luckily, Threads is creating a space to yap about your thoughts and ideas.. So let’s get a convo going," Kaling wrote in one post before asking her followers to reply with their "favorite comfort show."
After one user responded that Star Trek: Deep Space Nine and Star Trek: The Next Generation "helped through hard times before, during, and after the [COVID] pandemic," the Emmy nominee replied that she too loved the latter and "wanted to be Deanna Troi," referring to the character portrayed by Marina Sirtis.
Kaling then added that she also "had a crush on Data," referencing the male android who was played by Brent Spiner in the series.

"The Office and House were kind of on around the same time, so we would always run into the cast at different award shows, and I was so starstruck by Hugh Laurie because he was in Sense and Sensibility, the Emma Thompson adaptation of the Jane Austen novel," Kaling said.
She added, "It was a real nice overlap of two of my favorite things, grumpy doctors and grump characters from Jane Austen novels."
