Mindy McCready Funeral Details
Mindy McCready's family held a funeral for the country singer today in Ft. Myers, Florida, where 400 friends and family gathered to mourn the fallen star, who died of a self-inflicted gunshot wound on February 17.
According to People, the ceremony took place at Crossroads Baptist Church. McCready's casket (brought to the service in a white hearse) was adorned with white roses. Some of McCready's cousins, as well as her brothers Timothy, Joshua and Skyler, acted as pallbearers.
Mementos of McCready's life filled the sanctuary, as two video screens displayed photos of the singer while some of her songs played.
McCready's mother, Gayle Inge addressed the attendees, saying, "Mindy adored her two children. She wanted them to know that. Through much agony and pain, she went to heaven. She is no longer sick. She is healed. Thank you for all who are here. Please pray for those boys. No matter what, she will always be my little girl, sitting in her car seat, singing into a hairbrush. The world was her stage."
McCready leaves behind two sons: 6-year-old Zander (fathered by ex Billy McKnight) and 9-month-old Zayne (who she had with now-deceased boyfriend David Wilson).
People reports that in lieu of flowers, the family is requesting that donations be made to the Mindy McCready Children's Trust, c/o John Ammons, Edison National Bank, 13000 S. Cleveland Ave., Ft. Myers, FL 33907.
