Considering that Mickey Mouse first appeared in the Macy’s Thanksgiving Parade in 1934, it seems well overdue that his better half, Minnie Mouse, will finally be floating down the parade route this year.

“Fans of all ages will have the chance to welcome Minnie Mouse and her signature charm as she makes her debut in this year’s Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade,” said Chrissy Anderson, vice president, North America brand commercialization at Disney Consumer Products.

Clearly, Macy’s thinks Minnie Mouse has real style and has rolled out a limited-edition Disney collection of “fashion forward” apparel and accessories, including pajamas, slippers, sweats and T-shirts as well as beauty products and one-of-a-kind collectibles for kids and adults. Macy’s will also be carrying exclusive Disney artwork by Jeff Shelly, Disney’s director of character art, featuring Minnie Mouse, Mickey Mouse, Donald Duck and other Disney characters. More than 100 products are being offered.

Mickey and Minnie shops have been installed at Macy’s Herald Square flagship and 200 other Macy’s stores around the country. They will remain open through the New Year. Macy’s Herald Square has an interactive AR experience for customers to see themselves as Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade balloon handlers. And, on Nov. 2, Lego is hosting customer build events in the Mickey and Minnie Shops in select Macy’s stores.

“Minnie Mouse, known for her unique sense of style, inspires the collection created for and available only at Macy’s,” said Nata Dvir, chief merchandising officer at Macy’s. “The collection includes on-trend products, including bow details on dresses, must-have varsity jackets, sparkly cardigans, miniskirts, baseball caps and forever on-trend mouse ears.  The collection also features brands including Stoney Clover and Babble Bar, with must-have products, offering customers the opportunity for personalization within our Mickey and Minnie shops.”

As the story goes, Walt Disney once said “In private life, Mickey is married to Minnie.” They met in the animated Disney movie “Steamboat Willie.”
