‘Yellowstone’ & More Packed in Paramount Volume For BeIN

Middle Eastern broadcast giant BeIN Media has secured the likes of Yellowstone, Frasier and Colin From Accounts through an exclusive multi-year agreement with Paramount Global Content Distribution. Also included in the deal are Yellowstone spin-offs 1883 and 1923, Billions, Frasier, Knuckles, Lawmen: Bass Reeves, Mayor of Kingston, Paw Patrol, Ray Donovan, Tulsa King and the upcoming NCIS: Tony & Ziva, along with feature films such as Bob Marley: One Love, Rob Peace, Self Reliance and the Transformers and Mission: Impossible franchises. Paramount has similar deals in place with Cosmote in Greece, Streamz in Belgium, MultiChoice in Africa, JioCinema in India, Blast TV in the Philippines and MONO in Thailand. “This agreement underscores beIN’s commitment to delivering the best in entertainment to our audiences in the MENA region,” said Esra ?zaral Altop, Chief Entertainment Content Officer, at BeIN. “By expanding our relationship with Paramount and securing these exclusive media rights, we are excited to provide our subscribers with an incredible lineup of movies and series that millions of viewers across the region simply cannot find elsewhere.”

Joe Cole-Starrer ‘Nightsleeper’ Awakens Buyers

Nightsleeper, the Joe Cole- and Alexandra Roach-starring BBC thriller drama set aboard an ill-fated sleeper train, has clocked up international homes. Distributor Fremantle has sold the show, which is from Euston Films, to M-Net in Africa, VRT (Belgium), HRT (Croatia), CyBC (Cyprus), DR (Denmark), Yle (Finland), Cosmote TV (Greece), RUV (Iceland), HOT (Israel), Cellcom (Israel), Yes (Israel), LTV (Latvia), NPO (Netherlands), NRK (Norway), Canais TVCine – NOS (Portugal), Movistar Plus+ (Spain), SVT (Sweden), RTS (Switzerland), Stan (Australia), WOWOW (Japan), Three (New Zealand), PBS Ltd (Malta) and Universal+ (Latin America).  TF1 already has rights in France and launched it on October 9 to 3.25 million viewers (a 17.4% share). In the UK, the first episode of the show accused 8.5 million viewers across 28 days, making it among the most watched of the year. Nightsleeper comes from writer and creator Nick Leather, who worked with Laura Grace. He exec produces alongside Kate Harwood and Jamie Magnus Stone and Gaynor Holmes for the BBC. In September, we revealed Fremantle was laying off all staff at producer Euston, a move that came just days before Nightsleeper launched on BBC One and BBC iPlayer.

Hulu Investigates All3’s ‘Critical Incident’

Hulu now has the U.S. rights to Australian drama Critical Incident. Following up from its earlier MIPCOM deal for Paris Has Fallen, the Disney streamer swooped to buy rights to the Matchbox Pictures psychological crime drama from All3Media International and will debut all six episodes later this year. Delving into the complex world of policing, the show is inspired by creator Sarah Bassiuoni’s real-life experiences working as a lawyer in Western Sydney’s juvenile justice system. Cast includes lead Akshay Khanna (Polite Society), Zo? Boe (The Tree), Roxie Mohebbi (Shortland Street), Hunter Page-Lochard (The Newsreader), Jai Waetford (Neighbours), Jackson Heywood (Bloom), Zindzi Okenyo (Wolf Like Me), Simone Kessell (Yellowjackets) and Erik Thomson (Black Snow). We first revealed news of the series prior to Stan’s 2024 slate announcement earlier this year and brought you first-look images in July. Show debuted in Oz on August 12.

Max France & Sky Italia Raid BBC Studios Cupboards

BBC Studios’ scripted library continues to draw revenue. Warner Bros Discovery’s French and French-speaking overseas territories is among the buyers. Max, which launched in the country earlier this year, has bagged Sherlock, Luther, Misfits, The North Water and Extras Seasons 1 and 2. Also in France, M6+ has taken Pride and Prejudice, Great Expectations and Sense and Sensibility and Mediawan has bought Doctor Who Season 8-13 for basic pay net AB1. Sky Italia has acquire a package including Sister Boniface seasons 1-3, Death in Paradise Season 1-12 and a Christmas special and Luther Seasons 1-5, while Hungary’s Network 4 took Death in Paradise Seasons 1-13, Beyond Paradise Seasons 1-2, The Chelsea Detective Seasons 1-2, and Silent Witness Seasons 16-17. Further BBCS library deals were secured with AMC Networks International CNE (Czech Republic, Hungary, Moldova, Romania and Slovakia), SABC (South Africa), and Network 4’s country mates MTVA and TV2 Media Group.

BBC & WBD Among ‘The One That Got Away’ Buyers

The BBC and Warner Bros Discovery New Zealand are among buyers of BBC Wales drama The One That Got Away, which Banijay Rights is shopping at MIPCOM. SVT in Sweden and RTé in Ireland have also acquired the six-parter, which is from Catherine Tregenna (Law & Order UK, Lewis) and stars Elen Rhys (The Mallorca FilesCraith/Hidden)Richard Harrington (Y Gwyll/Hinterland) and Rhian Blythe (Y Golau / The Light in the Hall, Craith / Hidden). The psychologically-driven thriller plot follows DI Ffion Lloyd (Rhys), who partners with ex-lover DS Rick Walters (Harrington) to find out who is responsible for murdering a nurse in a Welsh coastal town. The series is the English-language version of Welsh-language drama Cleddau, which was for Welsh pubcaster S4C. Banijay UK’s BlackLight TV produced the show.

Talpa Studios And Acun Medya Flex ‘Muscles & Brains’

There Netherlands’ Talpa Studios and Turkey’s Acun Medya have teamed to bodybuild entertainment series Muscles & Brains. The Turkish show filmed recently in the Dominic Republic and will launch on October 28. It forms part of a wider creative agreement between Talpa and Acun, the latter of which has already struck several unannounced deals in “key territories.” All versions will be filmed at Acun’s production hub in the Caribbean. The format sees twelve men and women live together in a camp, where in duos they compete in intense physical tasks and complicated brainteasers. The longer the men endure in physical, the longer the woman have to solve the questions. Competitors search for their ideal partners as they go, meaning strategic alliances and plots will form, with the goal being to outlast the others and win a grand prize. Sebastian van Barneveld, Talpa Studios’ Director Global Distribution, said: “This groundbreaking strategic reality format combines high-stakes competition with a modern focus on optimizing both body and mind. With thrilling, large-scale challenges, the show delivers a powerful blend of reality entertainment.”
