Miranda Lambert Faces Heartbreaking Loss of ‘Two of the Best and Most Loyal Friends’

Miranda Lambert paid tribute to two of her “most loyal friends” in a couple of social media posts this week as she faced the loss of two of her rescue dogs.
Lambert, 40, began her heartbroken message “about the power of a rescue and what they can do to a heart” in an Instagram post on Thurs., June 6. She first spotlighted her dog, Delta Dawn, who “was one of those dogs that you only get once in a lifetime.”
The country music star recalled finding Delta Dawn in 2009 while stopping at a Sonic in Oklahoma. “Little did I know when I was trying to just get a cherry limeade, I would meet one of the most amazing dogs I would ever know,” she wrote. After spending nearly 16 years together, the “Wranglers” singer said she lost Delta Dawn on Earth Day.
On Friday, June 7, Lambert shared another update on Instagram, this time about her dog, Louise, one of two sibling Pyrenees she rescued in 2016. She recalled how both dogs seemed “right at home” at her farm in Tennessee, where she relied on them to protect her miniature horses, chickens and goats. With Louise’s death earlier this week, Lambert said both of the sister Pyrenees have now passed on.
In each Instagram post, the “Mama’s Broken Heart” singer shared photos and videos of Delta Dawn and Louise as she encouraged others to consider rescuing animals in need.
“So please remember this summer while you are home in your back yards with your families to consider bringing home a shelter pet to be part of those memories,” she urged. “They will change your life for the better.”
“The House That Built Me” singer received a wave of condolences from friends and fans who empathized with her loss.
“Sending love to you, Miranda. I just recently lost my boy too. ??????,” country star Wynonna Judd wrote.
“I’m so so sorry for you @mirandalambert losing your dog Delta Dawn,” fellow singer/songwriter Tanya Tucker commented on Lambert’s Thursday post. “I know for me it's a terrible feeling and it hurts. so my love goes out to you sweetie! You gave Delta Dawn the best life! ??TT.”
“Awwwww girl!!! I loved that sweet pup, so full of personality!” country music singer Heidi Newfield wrote. "We both had Chihuahua rescues that stayed on the road with us. Bless you and I’m so sorry for your loss. ??????.”
