Drew Barrymore and Toni Collette Are Besties in Trailer for Tragicomedy ‘Miss You Already’
Get your tissues out, girlfriends.
In the first trailer for Miss You Already (above), Jess (Drew Barrymore) and Milly (Toni Collette) play life-long best friends who face dark times when the latter is diagnosed with the Big C. Jess, meanwhile, becomes pregnant, and the pair eventually set off on a scenic international excursion.
Despite the heavy subject matter and not-so-optimistic-sounding title, the film looks like it will aim to bring some smiles (as you can tell from those big smiles above!). And it has a good precedent: 2011’s warmly received buddy flick 50-50 with Joseph Gordon-Levitt and Seth Rogen pleased crowds even as it earned the unfairly simplistic label of “cancer comedy.”
The project marks only Barrymore’s fourth movie this decade, following the underrated 2010 rom-com Going the Distance, 2012’s whale drama Big Miracle, and last year’s unfortunate reunion with Adam Sandler, Blended. Co-starring Dominic Cooper and Paddy Considine, Miss You Already is the latest feature from production designer-turned-director Catherine Hardwicke, best known for the helming the revered indie Thirteen and the first Twilight movie.
Miss You Already opens Nov. 6.
