Moneybagg Yo to open Memphis restaurant this week: Here's what we know about Cache 42

Memphis rapper Moneybagg Yo's new restaurant and lounge will celebrate its grand opening Friday.

Cache 42 Kitchen & Cocktails, located at 4202 Hacks Cross Road, Suite 121, will offer a lounge-like bar and dining experience.

Chef Daris Leatherwood is in charge of the kitchen. Leatherwood brings a wealth of experience to the restaurant, having worked as an executive chef for Ruth’s Chris Steak House, the American Empress riverboat cruise ship, as a personal chef for rapper Lil Wayne and most recently as the opening chef of Supper Club on 2nd.

Cache 42 operations manager Jason Spicer describes the food as "elevated fine dining." He said he expects dishes like the oxtails and lamb chops to be popular menu items.

Spicer said Moneybagg Yo has been involved in every detail of the restaurant.

Cache 42 will have two different experiences: the Dining Room and the Living Room.

The Dining Room will offer an elevated dining experience. Reservations are recommended for tables, but walk-ins will be accepted for bar seating.

The Living Room is a hookah lounge that will feature clean hip hop music. While guests may mingle within the space, all guests must have a seat. Spicer said there will be no standing room and once every seat is taken, the lounge will be considered at capacity. To help with the flow, there is a two-hour maximum time allotment at each table. For now, the Living Room is open for walk-ins only, but soon guests will be able to make reservations for the space.

Based on photos online, the modern-styled dining room includes a variety of seating options, from regular tables to high-top tables to booths. Marble accents, crystal chandeliers and statement art posters add to the look of the upscale dining room and lounge.

For the next month or so, the restaurant will be open for dinner only. Spicer said Saturday and Sunday brunch will be added in about four weeks.

There is no dress code other than no ball caps in the dining room, but Spicer said he hopes when guests see the space they will "have effort" when making dress choices.

The restaurant's soft opening kicked off March 24.
